Evaluation & Treatment

The larynx and pharynx are essential structures that work together to support both voice production and swallowing.

The pharynx serves as a shared passageway for air and food, guiding food safely from the mouth to the esophagus while directing air toward the larynx and lungs.

The larynx, often called the voice box, houses the vocal folds, which vibrate as air passes through to produce sound, enabling speech. During swallowing, the larynx plans a critical protective role by elevating and closing off the airway to prevent food or liquid from entering the trachea, reducing the risk of aspiration.

Together, these structures ensure that breathing, speaking, and swallowing can occur efficiently and safely, highlighting their vital importance in everyday function and communication.

At SIMA Voice & Swallowing Center, our services are designated to evaluate and treat these concerns through comprehensive voice and swallowing assessments, individualized therapy, and targeted treatment plans.

By addressing both the structural and functional aspects of the larynx and pharynx, we help patients improve vocal quality, enhance swallowing safety, and regain confidence in their daily communication and eating.
